Andrea Darvill Storyteller B.A
B.ED
Andrea Darvill is back from
touring schools in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada where she performed stories
for hundreds of students ages 5-12. Her totally unique show interacts with
the audience every step of the way, so there is a rhythm between listening
and participating. Her multicultural audience could appreciate the stories
from around the globe.
Andrea has performed on stage at the Hong Kong Fringe
Club for The Faust Festival 2004 and 2005, to audiences of up to a hundred,
mostly expat kids from international schools. She performed four different
shows; Multicultural Tales From Around The World for ages 8-12, Trickster
stories for ages 5-8 and stories with a Little Hero for ages 3-6.
Previously in Hong Kong, Andrea had been an English secondary school
teacher, incorporating a lot of stories into her classes as a means to
learning English. She taught drama on the weekends for Faust International
Youth Theatre.
She has now started up Storytelling-Drama classes in
Byron Bay where she now lives.
“Andrea’s connections to her story material, and her
spirited interaction with the young audience, made this a truly memorable
experience for both the students and the teachers. Ms. Darvill is an
exceptionally gifted, knowledgeable and enthusiastic storyteller.

“During her year with FIYT, Ms. Darvill also led
specific Storytelling workshops for many different aged children. These
were highly professional and well-executed. Energy was the key to Ms.
Darvill’s workshops. She was consistently able to change and vary
activities in order to exact the best from her students.”
Mathew GregoryDirector FIYT
“Andrea’s presentation was so creative and appealing
and professional that the students were spellbound. They gave her the title
of “Tusitala”, after the well-known storyteller, R.L Stevenson.”

Andrea is available to travel within Australia or
abroad to do interactive storytelling performances, or give workshops to
students of all ages and English abilities.
Being an educator for over 20 years, she can also use
storytelling as a means to improve communication in the workplace, and to
teach teachers how to incorporate storytelling techniques in their classes.
